    Transgenic Design

    We collaborate with you to understand your gene expression expectations. This allows us to find the most optimal promoter, coding, and terminator sequences to maximize the chance of successful strain generation. We listen to your needs and adapt the project accordingly.

    Molecular Assembly

    Depending on the project approach, we often turn to de novo sequence generation through our suppliers. Alternatively, we can deploy a variety of gene assembly approaches to get the exact sequence needed for appropriate tissue-specific expression. Either way, we efficiently generate the sequence components needed for creation of high efficiency injection mix components.

    C. elegans Injections

    With thousands of lines delivered, our team of injectionist have the necessary skill. They can obtain precision delivery of transgenesis reagents to the nematode gonad. Often, only a few animals need to be injected in order to generate multiple biological replicates.

    Candidate Screening

    We perform a sufficient number of injections that typically 3 or more biological replicates are generated.
    Occasionally the numbers of animals transformed is below this number in a set of injected animals. When this is detected, we quickly redo another set of injections to ensure that you received a good chance at multiple biological replicate strains.

    Strain Confirmation

    Often our process has a selection marker that helps us identify candidates, but we don't stop there. For our genomic integrants, we look at each transgenesis junction by PCR.
    Once we confirm the ends of the gene insertion have proceeded as planned, clients can opinion for full sequencing of the entire transgene sequence so that a sequence verified strain is delivered.

InVivo Biosystems bills on a 50/50 service payment plan for Full Build and Candidate Lines projects.

The first 50% is required for project start and is non-refundable. The second 50% is paid at end of the project and is only billable if a line is delivered.

At the request of WormBase, genetic variation generated and recovered by InVivo Biosystems should retain the “knu # “ allele designation provided.

Allele names can be ascertained from either product shipping documents or by emailing InVivo Biosystems . For example: The strain gene-1(knu123[GFP::gene-1]) was generated by InVivo Biosystems .

Yes, we offer custom injection services where you provide the gene editing idea in your strain receive professionally prepared injection mix containing all of the required molecular components to achieve your desired custom genetic edit. You will, however, require access to microinjection rig, technical skills for proper injection, and the ability to screen and select final desired strain(s).
